Green Beauty Favorites // Moisturizer + Exfoliant + Antiage

Green Beauty Favorites // Moisturizer + Exfoliant + Antiage // @nicoledula

It’s been a while since I shared my green beauty favorites and I have new ones for you! I hate wasting money on beauty products that just don’t work and if you’re looking for products without junk in them, the prices are usually higher and it’s even more frustrating when they don’t work. I’ve gathered my favorite moisturizing/exfoliating/anti-aging products that are working for me and are free of parabens and mystery ingredients. Daytime Face Moisturizer/Anti-Age/Sunscreen In the morning, I use a pump of Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum and rub it on my face and neck. Next, I put 2 drops of Cecilia Wong… Continue reading

Floral Crown Workshop with Made Floral

Floral Crown Workshop with Made Floral // www.dulanotes.com @nicoeldula

Last weekend was a busy one, but full of so many good things. On Friday night I basically had chocolate for dinner at the new Bon Bon Bon shop in Detroit, on Saturday Megan and I had a pierogi picnic and on Sunday I had brunch with my sister-in-law Meg and then we made floral crowns. The weekend of weekends! Martha DeFlorio is a floral designer who owns Made Floral and she makes the dreamiest floral arrangements. We met for brunch a few months ago over mutual admiration of our Instagram feeds. Martha also hosts different floral workshops all over metro Detroit.… Continue reading

Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom Remodel // www.dulanotes.com @nicoledula

It’s finished! Well, it’s been mostly finished for a couple months, but I wanted to hang the finishing touches before taking the “after” photos. I was completely nervous that this remodel wouldn’t be what we were dreaming of, but it turned out even better than we had hoped. Our contractor, Lenox, was so kind and patient. He’s very detail-oriented, which is just what we needed. We’ve done a lot of DIY projects in our home, but we decided on a contractor this time because this little room needed a lot of work. These before pictures are horrifying. We pretty much kept… Continue reading

Butch's in Holland, Michigan // Dula Notes

Ok, I was just going to tack a few of these pics onto another post, but I had too many to share. We went to west Michigan and specifically my hometown of Holland, for the fourth where my Mom, Dad, brother and sister-in-law live. Marc’s brother and his wife also joined us and we packed in as much fun as possible. We drove the (almost) 3 hour trip after work on Thursday night, very excited about a 4-day weekend. It’s our routine to grab dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Holland when we arrive. This time we chose… Continue reading

At Home // Homemade Deodorant That Works!

Homemade Deodorant That Works! // Dula Notes

I have a good deodorant story for you. That sounds strange, doesn’t it? But really, I do! Marc and I celebrated an anniversary years ago in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. They were having an unseasonably warm June and each morning of our 3 night stay, we woke up early to hot and humid weather with temperatures that continued to climb throughout the day. That didn’t stop me from enjoying the hot gourmet breakfasts served on the porch at our B&B, though. I’d watch the joggers go by as I ate bites of bananas foster french toast and proclaim to Marc that… Continue reading

Dula Wedding

Yesterday, Marc’s brother was married and we just adore Meg and we’re so glad she’s officially a part of our family. She meticulously planned every detail and the result was a gorgeous rustic barn wedding. The groom made a bar out of reclaimed wood, the food was incredible and the band, THE BAND. We danced and danced to classic rock n’ roll, oldies and a high-energy rendition of Seven Nation Army because Matt and Meg are big White Stripes fans. The weather was perfect, too. It was the loveliest wedding. I thought I’d share my favorite photos from the day.… Continue reading

Trying out new beauty products on your skin can be frustrating and expensive. I have slowly made the transition to all natural beauty products (some organic, some not) that do not contain chemicals, parabens, and strange preservatives. I can’t wait to share my new favorite products with you. Left to right: Trader Joe’s Spa Face Wash with Tea Tree Oil // 100% Cold-Pressed Organic Argan Oil // Tata Harper’s Rejuvenating Serum // Tata… Continue reading

At Home // 7 Reasons To Love Coconut Oil

A couple years ago, I had an expensive jar of coconut oil in my cupboard with barely a tablespoon used. Every time I’d go into that cupboard I was upset that I didn’t know what to do with it. Times have changed and now I always have a jar around. I wanted to high-five Trader Joe’s when they started carrying an organic, reasonably priced coconut oil. You can also find good deals for coconut oil on Amazon. Why use coconut oil? I looked to Sarah, Certified Nutritional Practitioner, behind the beautiful blog, My New Roots for the health benefits of… Continue reading
