CSA 2014: Week 3 + Grilled Caesar Salad

CSA 2014: Week 3 + Grilled Caesar Salad Recipe // Dula Notes

Ah, summer! I can’t get enough strawberries right now and the other night I had some with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. If I’m not making the ice cream myself, I recently discovered Alden’s organic vanilla ice cream at Whole Foods and it’s my favorite. If it goes on sale, I just have to buy it. Some store-bought vanilla ice creams are too sweet for me and Alden’s is pretty perfect. Just in case you were looking for a vanilla ice cream to try.

This week we received jericho romaine lettuce, russian kale, butter lettuce, asparagus, garlic scapes, strawberries and red baron spring onions.

This is the strawberry haul our CSA had at their farmers market stand. Funny story, I picked up my box that morning and couldn’t believe how much my car smelled like strawberries as I drove home. When I opened up my box, it was full of strawberries! I was tempted to just keep those gems to myself, but went back for my share and we all had a good laugh about it.

Continuing with my no-oven manifesto for summer, I wanted to try a grilled caesar salad and it turned out delicious! It’s easy and I recommend trying it for the 4th of July, if you’re still looking for recipes. Have a great weekend!

  1. I’ve been wanting to make/eat a grilled caesar salad for a long while. Now I kind of have to.

    Strawberries forever.

    • I’ve wanted to make grilled caesar salad for a while now, too, and it’s a total win! I hope you love it!

    • It’s hard to explain, but the ends become a bit crispy and some parts of the lettuce are more wilted than others. I think it’s a nice mix of textures one you chop it up and mix it together. It no longer has the raw crispness, which I think is a nice change from your every day salad. Let me know how it goes!

  2. I haven’t tried a grilled caesar yet but this looks insanely delicious. For some reason grilling lettuce intimidates me. I’m new to your blog and just read your about page, hello from a fellow Michigander! And my boyfriends name is Marc, aren’t Marc’s just the best?

    • Hi Kelly Jo! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I was hesitant to grill lettuce at first, too. It’s such a quick grill, though, that it just gives it some great flavor and texture. I like that it’s easy to finish the salad while your protein is resting after it’s time on the grill and boom, dinner. Yay for Michiganders (!!) and yes, Marc’s are definitely the best 🙂
