It’s been a while since I shared my green beauty favorites and I have new ones for you! I hate wasting money on beauty products that just don’t work and if you’re looking for products without junk in them, the prices are usually higher and it’s even more frustrating when they don’t work. I’ve gathered my favorite moisturizing/exfoliating/anti-aging products that are working for me and are free of parabens and mystery ingredients.
Daytime Face Moisturizer/Anti-Age/Sunscreen
In the morning, I use a pump of Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum and rub it on my face and neck. Next, I put 2 drops of Cecilia Wong Black Currant Serum OR Mun No. 1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum (<–referral link for $25 off) in my palm and dip my ring finger in the oil and dot a dab of oil under each eye and lightly tap into my under eye to moisturize and make it easier for makeup application. Then I run a small stream of water and run my other hand under it quickly and rub my two palms together. I rub the diluted water and oil mixture all over my face and neck. After that dries, I use either Kiehl’s Super Fluid sunscreen OR Josie Maran’s daily moisturizer with sunscreen. It’s important to use your expensive serums and oil first, to let your skin get the direct benefit before applying sunscreen.
Why so much stuff? The rejuvenating serum is strictly an anti-age product that does improve the quality of my skin and also has a lovely floral scent. I am usually NOT a fan of floral scents, but because it’s natural, it smells like a garden on a summer day. I’d buy more Tata Harper stuff if my wallet could take it, but I’m hooked on the serum. The oil serums are both anti-age and moisturizing, which is great right before you put on your makeup. Both serums are fantastic and I recommend both, but I use one at a time. The Cecilia Wong oil made my skin brighter right away and smells great, but the Mun oil really moisturizes and I’ve seen great results from it. Plus it is the best scented beauty product I own. It’s other-worldly.
I’ve been a real stickler for sunscreen and both of these sunscreens have worked great for me. Kiehl’s super fluid has a really loose consistency which makes application easy and it lasts a long time. And even though it’s tempting to buy the largest size you can to save money, be careful with spf lotions because expired spf lotion is not good. My father-in-law used expired spf and went golfing and his face blistered and swelled until he was unrecognizable. The spf was several years old and effectively was just like rubbing lotion on your face prior to heavy sun exposure. I also try to apply the spf on the tops of my hands when I can remember because your hands basically roast in your car most summer days.

Nighttime Face Moisturizer/Anti-Age
At night, your skin soaks up your products and gets all night to reap the benefits. After I wash my face well and remove all makeup, I apply another pump of Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum to my face and neck. If my skin is particularly dry, like in the winter, I’ll add Fat and The Moon All Cream to the drier spots of my face since my skin is a combination of oily and dry. It’s very moisturizing while still being light and easy to apply. Then I add a good dab of Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream under each eye and tap the cream under my eye with my ring finger. Why the ring finger? Because it isn’t a dominant finger and will be more gentle on that thin skin beneath your eyes.
When my skin gets dry, I will exfoliate or tone my skin at night to get those little bits of skin that make applying foundation the next morning a nightmare. In the winter, I’ll do this 1-2 times a week, but in the summer, it’s more like once every 2-3 weeks. I alternate using toner or an exfoliant to sluff off the dead skin. I wouldn’t use both at the same time, especially for sensitive skin.
The glycolic acid toner is really effective and refreshing. When you first use it, your skin might tingle and get a little pink. I’ve been using it for several months and now my skin is very familiar, but it still gets rid of the dead skin and leaves your skin looking smooth and polished. I love putting moisturizer on after the toner, because I feel like my skin is really soaking it up. Also, it’s very important to use sunscreen when using this product because it essentially removes a top layer of skin, revealing a smooth, sensitive layer of skin. That’s another reason why I apply this at night, before moisturizing. I was very leery of this product and did a bunch of reading up on glycolic acid toners before using this one. It’s been really effective for me, getting rid of the dead skin that seems to build up on the sides of my nose.
The Fat and the Moon Olive Masa & Olive Face Paste uses masa corn in moisturizing olive oil to scrub your face and get a smooth finish. Instead of just rinsing this off, I use a soft, wet wash cloth that I’ve run under hot water to gently wipe off the exfoliant. Wipe up, in long, sweeping motions so you’re not dragging your skin down.
I’ve tried many body lotions and Giovanni Ultra-Sleek body lotion is my favorite. It smells great and soaks in quickly. It’s great as an every day body lotion for right after your shower. The Restorsea Repairing Hand Treatment is moisturizing and has anti-aging properties. I’ve recently become a little terrified of “old lady hands” as much as I like to admire them on other people.
While the 2 Chic lotion is perfect for the body, sometimes my feet and hands are extra dry, especially in the winter. When I’m ready to relax for the night, I’ll slather either Rescue in a Jar or Ellovi Body Butter on my feet and cover with loose-fitting socks and rub the rest into my hands. I’ll wake up the next morning with the softest feet and hands. This is also great in the summer when you want your feet to look their best in sandals.

If you purchase anything from Amazon using one of those links, it won’t cost you any more, but I’ll get a little kickback that helps me run this little blog. I purchased everything on my own, except Ellovi did send me the body butter to try and I do really use it. Thanks for supporting Dula Notes!
