Introducing Romy Lane

She’s here! On August 5th, Romy Lane was born and I can’t believe how crazy giving birth is and how crazy it is that she’s ours. We call her tiny, but mighty. She was 6 lbs 14 oz at birth, but she holds her head up and when you try to burp her, she pushes her whole body to get back to the feeding position. Her appetite is insatiable. My life is diapers, breastfeeding, saving links on Facebook that I’ll probably never read and streaming 16 and Pregnant. I also sing “Almost Paradise” to Romy when we watch Bachelor in… Continue reading

Food Adventure // Chapman House

For our anniversary, we tried the newly opened restaurant, The Chapman House, with our good friends, Bruce and Nancy Chapman. You have to bring a couple of Chapmans to the Chapman House, right? This new restaurant is very close to where I work and I’ve had my eye on the renovation. The Chapman House was under renovation for 3 years, while the new owners stayed true to the home’s original finishes. It belonged to the president of Rochester Savings Bank, William Clark Chapman, and remained in the family until 1973, when it was sold and used commercially. It’s fitting that we… Continue reading

Top 5 Baby Registry Products

Nicole Dula's Top 5 Baby Registry Favorites // @NicoleDula

My Top 5 Baby Registry Favorites It’s a big challenge to sort through all of the baby items out there and find both functional and cute items. We try to live a pretty minimalist lifestyle, only buying things we need and love and applying that to a new baby has been difficult! Some items we’ll hold off on until she’s here, but I wanted to share my favorite finds. 1. Swan Blanket – I just fell in love with this swan blanket, simple as that. I’m not really a big fan of baby pink and the black and white color with the… Continue reading

Travel // Columbus, Ohio 2016

There is so much to do, I mean EAT, in Columbus! I’ll post links to every place we went at the bottom of the post for easy reference. We were in Columbus for a wedding and we decided to make a long weekend out of it. We stayed at an Airbnb in the trendy short north neighborhood of Columbus. There were some great Airbnb options in Columbus, but this one was Marc’s favorite. It was a great choice.   Baby’s first Airbnb. Our Airbnb in Nashville had some great Wi-Fi network names, but “Router? I just met ‘er!” is a new… Continue reading

Vegan Sea Salt Caramel Coffee Popsicles

Vegan Sea Salt Caramel Coffee Popsicles // @nicoledula #popsicleweek

It’s #popsicleweek, are you excited?!? If not, I’m pretty sure I’m excited enough for the both of us. This is the 4th year that Billy has gathered a bunch of bloggers to create magical frozen treats. Get your popsicle mold ready because you’re going to be craving pops like crazy after the week is through. My early favorite pops are these Cherry Vanilla Pie Pops made with a mochi crust!! I always make vegan pops, I don’t know why. Is there a Buzzfeed quiz to tell me? These pops are inspired by the coffee sea salt caramel ice cream I love… Continue reading

Baby Shower #2

Nicole Dula's Baby Shower #2 // @nicoledula

How lucky can a girl get? Not only did I have one amazing baby shower, but there was a second one in my hometown of Holland, Michigan, hosted by my sister-in-law Bethany and good friend, Janet. We gathered on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was perfect. My sister-in-law wanted farmers market flowers and chocolates for the favors. She’s such a busy lady and had to work Saturday morning, so I went with my brother and Marc to pick out pretty flowers and the hardest job of all, choosing chocolates from the local candy store, The Peanut Store. They make… Continue reading

Baby Shower #1

Nicole Dula's Baby Shower // @nicoledula

I thought you might like a peek into baby girl’s baby shower! She is so loved already and Marc and I were overwhelmed by all of the love and thought put into our shower. Once the words, “I’m pregnant” came out of my mouth, our friend (and Marc’s cousin) Nancy said, “I’m throwing you a shower!” She and her daughter Allison, kept the details a secret and it was the loveliest surprise. When we walked into the Italian restaurant, I saw red, white and blue balloons in the distance. As we walked closer with increased curiosity, it was a Detroit… Continue reading

Greek Pasta Salad

Greek Pasta Salad Recipe // @nicoledula

Memorial Day weekend was hot and humid, but I loved it. We made some tasty cheeseburgers on pretzel buns. Our gym had a special memorial day workout class and a new girl passed out! I stayed in my two favorite spots, the one under the fan for strength training and the boxing bag next to the AC unit. It’s 10 am on Tuesday and my deodorant is already failing me. I’m not used to being this warm, you guys. I need to keep emergency deodorant at work. That’s my life now. I love summer, though, and won’t want it to leave.… Continue reading

Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade Compote

Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade Compote Recipe // @nicoledula

In honor of Beyonce’s album, Lemonade, I’m serving up this strawberry rhubarb lemonade compote that I would totally make for Beyonce if she came to my house. She’s veegz now, right? It’s sweet and tart with a lemony zing from long strips of lemon peel that soften as it cooks. While Beyonce is making us crave lemonade, I came across Tim’s anti-lemon zest manifesto that made me laugh and coincidentally had 3 recipes lined up that all included lemon. After far too much deep thought on lemons, I decided that for me,  lemon has its place. Even boldly mingling with strawberries and rhubarb… Continue reading
