Winter Snapshots - Chocolate Brioche from The Give Thanks Bakery // @nicoledula

We had a mild winter in Michigan and while it’s still cold now, it’s been sunny! Spring is starting off right. It’s time to take one more look at those winter pictures before I’m ready to eat asparagus and rhubarb to my fill. Photo above features Slow-Cooker Pork Ragu with Gnocchi. Yum. Christmas Stollen for 2015 and beyond. Mom always gets me cronuts when I visit now. Avocado toast just never gets old. New favorite Trader Joe’s candy to eat until my stomach hurts. Smashed crispy potatoes with eggs + lemon vinaigrette – best breakfast! The North American International Auto Show +… Continue reading

Fall 2015 Seasonal Snapshots // @nicoledula

It’s officially winter and time to glorify the beauty of fall and brace ourselves for cozy nights indoors. This fall’s brunch game was STRONG. I count 6 brunch pics! Photo above is from our fall vacation to Traverse City at Bonobo Winery. I love toast. I said this to Marc recently and he said that’s never something that’s come out of his mouth. His loss, man. Especially when I have incredible American Spoon jam to go on top. My favorite dish at The White Horse Inn! Housemade bread and butter pickles served with fried cheese bread. Sounds weird (or does is?) but… Continue reading

Seasonal Snapshots // Summer 2015

I’m late in getting these summer pics up, but it was a good one! It was fun to look back at my whole 30 recipes from June and all of the ice cream cones I ate. Enjoy! (Photo above is from our Nashville trip!) Whole 30 was a challenge, but meals like this slow cooker stuffed cabbage rolls recipe helped! Our favorite Whole 30 breakfast was this curry lamb dish with eggs. The prettiest ombre lettuce from our CSA. My surprise anniversary gift! I’ll be putting this to good use now that the weather is cooler. One of our CSA shares from… Continue reading

Turntable Kitchen's Date Shake Recipe // @nicoledula

It’s that time again. Another season has come, was awesome and is leaving, but I took photos of the good stuff to share with you. I hope your spring was a good one! Here’s to summer! That time I finally put extra virgin olive oil and sea salt on vanilla ice cream. Mmmmmm. A particularly good Amazon delivery. This beet salad with whipped goat cheese was the prettiest pink mess. This date shake recipe from Turntable Kitchen was so good! My consumption of donuts was up this spring and this tagalong version was pretty incredible. Remember that time my Whole Foods… Continue reading

Seasonal Snapshots // Winter 2014-2015 @nicoeldula

The almost constant sunshine this winter has been a delight. It’s resulted in both good moods and good light for food photography. You’ll see that it’s been a delicious winter with lots of snowy trail walks, too. The bathroom remodel was a big deal + we just love it. A Saturday walk on a new trail. Marble rye + slow-cooker corned beef + kale slaw Megan and I ate at the Katoi food truck during her #veganphase. Thai fried chicken for one! Selden Standard has the friendliest staff + beautiful, delicious food. Sometimes a girl just needs some frozen yogurt… Continue reading

Seasonal Snapshots // Fall 2014 @nicoledula

The sun is peeking out from behind the pretty gray-blue clouds and it’s time to share my favorite fall pictures before the snow comes and it’s officially winter. Enjoy! I’m getting ready to make another batch of my favorite chocolate chip cookies. One of my favorite photos from our fall trip to Traverse City. That night we enjoyed a free concert and a cold glass of cinnamon girl cider. I was so happy when watermelon season spilled into fall for a few weeks. The pumpkin tahini bread is my favorite recipe of 2014. I can’t get enough of those pretty sesame… Continue reading

Summer 2014 in PIctures // @nicoledula

Summer is hard to say goodbye to. I’ll miss the slower pace and no-cook dinners. It’s not all sadness, though, because fall is a mighty fine season, too. I’m already thinking about a trip to the cider mill for donuts and cider. Before I move on, though, I’m going to give summer one last high five with a post of my phone photos from summer 2014. Remember this Coconut Tres Leches Cake? THE BEST. Anniversary flowers I bought myself because I had to have them immediately. This Coconut Milk Grilled Pineapple was a summer favorite. Amy invited me to her… Continue reading

Seasonal Snapshots - Salade Nicoise // Dula Notes

Every time I put together a seasonal post of photos, I fear I’ll lack enough photos to share and each time I am surprised by all of the goodness from that season. Spring started with a chilly, but delicious trip to Chicago and is now dazzling me with sunshine-filled mornings. As the weather starts to warm up, it’s time to celebrate the best of spring and then get ready for summer cocktails and barbecues. Chicago, your donuts were incredible. And so was your Bloody Mary with beer chaser from Avec. Brunch magic. And Chicago inspired me to make this pretty… Continue reading

Winter 2013-2014 Seasonal Snapshots // Dula Notes

It’s been a tough winter for many. Droughts on the west coast, snow where it’s rare (poor Atlanta, man) and here in the Midwest, record-breaking amounts of snowfall. Winter has only recently begun to loosen its grip on us. I don’t like complaining about the weather, though, so instead I try to focus on the things I love about winter. The things I’ll miss when it’s gone. Namely the gorgeous winter sunlight that streams in our windows each morning and the pastel sunsets. The fact that we’re all forced to slow down a bit on the roads, cook a little… Continue reading

Seasonal Snapshots // Fall 2013

The snow is really coming down out there and it’s time to finally share my fall photos. For several weeks in October, maybe every week in October, I convinced Marc to eat al fresco whenever possible because “this might be the last warm night of the year!” Fall in Michigan was beautiful, which allows me to take the cold and snow more gracefully this year. This Norwegian birthday cake was a hit. Taken on a warm Friday night in October. We checked out this great new shop, Rail and Anchor. I stuffed a pumpkin with bread and cheese and heavy… Continue reading
