Summer is hard to say goodbye to. I’ll miss the slower pace and no-cook dinners. It’s not all sadness, though, because fall is a mighty fine season, too. I’m already thinking about a trip to the cider mill for donuts and cider. Before I move on, though, I’m going to give summer one last high five with a post of my phone photos from summer 2014.

Anniversary flowers I bought myself because I had to have them immediately.

Amy invited me to her lovely birthday party with tie dye crafts, delicious food and lots of lady chat.

There are lots of amazing things to see in Detroit.

And I had to send him a little something.

This pizza was the prettiest one of the summer.

Fattoush Salad is great for using your CSA or Farmers Market produce.

I waited until I had the perfect tomatoes and the best bread to make my first BLT. Worth it.

I was (and still am) all starry-eyed over these red carrots.

Some days you just need a s’mores cupcake.

I rediscovered an old-fashioned frozen custard shop.

Marc made me watch a Chuck Norris movie and it was kind of awesome.

My vote for best manhole cover.

We went to a Detroit Tigers game on a beautiful Friday afternoon.

Northern Michigan Balaton Tart Cherries.

Work on our bathroom remodel starts soon. I’m nervous! And excited!

Cider and wine tasting at Blake’s Apple Orchard with my parents.

Marc out-ordered me big time.

Discovered The Brinery’s amazing sauerkraut which is made in Ann Arbor.

One night we sat at the bar of a local seafood restaurant and met 2 baby boomer couples on either side of us. I bonded with one of the ladies over whiskey. She bought me an old-fashioned. BFF’s 4 ever.

Our first trip to Zingerman’s Deli and the reuben was on point.

Zingerman’s gelato and my favorite kind of tile.

Why didn’t anyone tell me Ikea sold bars of marzipan?

We went to Ottava Via in Detroit and it was fantastic.

Our Detroit vacation day continued with pistachio gelato and coffee from Melt.

We also popped into Willys just before closing time and it was lovely.
YES TO POPSICLE WEEK! Also ohmygod what?! to ikea having marzipan.
Seriously! Ikea sells bars of delicious marzipan and I was pleasantly surprised that it was less sweet than some of the marzipan I’ve purchased before. It’s basically perfect.
There is so much gorgeous in this post I don’t even know what to focus on. The pea salad! The table decor at the birthday party! The flowers! The pizza! OK, I’ll stop now. Basically everything 🙂
Thanks, Sues! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pictures!
